Nine miners have been rescued alive from a gold mine in the central Cundinamarca department of Colombia after a collapse on 17 August.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the workers were located and brought to the surface the day after the incident at a pit in El Bosque. All are in good health and receiving medical care, the National Mining Agency added on social media channels.
The pit was reportedly being operated illegally.
According to AFP, there were 148 deaths in mining accidents in the country in 2021.
